Here I am at the Chapel in Camp McGovern, Bosnia. I am a Chaplain Assistant in the US Army, and run the chapel with my boss, CH Sean Wead.
We arrived here just after the tragedy of 11 September, and have been helping our unit get through this rotation by offering counseling, worship services, and sometimes just a smile of encouragement during hard times away from home.
It is always hard time being away from home and our loved ones, but we have good men here, and strong friendships are being formed that can last forever...it's one of the best things about being in the military.

SGT David Thomas in the Camp McGovern Chapel
Welcome to the Life and Times of a Chaplain Assistant: David Thomas web site.
I've been fortunate enough to travel all over the world. Most of this was done before I joined the Army in 1987, but I have travelled quite a bit since joining as well. I have also lived in several different countries prior to joining the service which has made me feel more like a citizen of the world than of any one nation, even the one I serve in uniform.
Though I am in the service of the United States Army, I am also what is known as a Global Nomad, a term for people who have lived a majority of their lives outside the country of their nationality. This term applies to many families that are in the military, foriegn service, and who work for International corporations,
I hope you'll find this site interesting, and feel free to send me any comments you have about it.
